WHAT DO PEOPLE THINK ABOUT OUR SUPPORT SERVICES?

Testimony from an organisation:

“Olivia and her team are one of the most supportive organisations we have the pleasure of working with. Always there to offer a helping hand to some of the most vulnerable families in our communities.

I have worked on cases where the support provided by Special Needs Community has had a huge impact on families of children with SEN. At a time where the level of need within our community is growing and evolving at a constant rate, SNC has been able to support, advocate and advise on issues so critical to families’ mental health and wellbeing.

We are so lucky to have Olivia and her team tirelessly supporting Harrow families.

THANK YOU!”

Testimony from a parent carer:

“SNC has been a lifeline since I moved into Harrow in 2019.  They have helped and encouraged me. They have provided step-by-step support in getting emergency respite care whilst I had an operation and thereafter from Social Care for six weeks, and they supported us in accessing ongoing respite package for my son who has complex needs from Social care. They support us in preparing for the EHCP for my son and attending MDT meetings regarding the EHCP. They helped me to advocate for myself and my family.

They also invested and empowered me to walk my walk, to achieve my dreams in starting a community project of my own and they are still on the end of the line when I need them. I achieve it and it’s called The Healing Centre (https://www.thehealingcentre.org.uk/). As a Christian, I had a passion and long-held idea of creating a project reaching out and offering practical support and Christain healing to the community based on God’s word. We recruited skilled volunteers and undertook a 6 weeks pilot program successfully and now looking to turn the project into a registered charity. I can’t thank you enough SNC, your excellent organisation’s, (trustworthy, authenticity, love, care) belief in parents and their capabilities is truly outstanding.

For this reason, I wanted to join the team and become a community champion to help other parents.”

Testimony from a social worker:

“Special Needs Community has played a vital role in supporting one of the families I am allocated to as a social worker by empowering/advocating for them. SNC has supported this family in so many ways, for example, they had empowered one of the parents, (mother of a child with very complex physical and health needs) to move on to finding a fulfilling career around her caring duties.

SNC  has also advocated and mediated for them when they felt they desperately needed respite due to their demanding caring roles but felt that their voice was not heard. In this case, a member of SNC was able to explain to the parent how the children with disability team department work in determining care package allocations and on the other hand informed our team on how best we can work with the family, attending meetings and helping in negotiating with the family the best way forward. The outcome of all SNC’s efforts together with other professionals involved is that there is a package in place that is working well for the child and offering the parents a well-deserved respite”.
